Robert Ludlum wrote three Bourne books, before his death in 2001: The Bourne Identity (1980), The Bourne Supremacy (1986) and The Bourne Ultimatum (1990). Since Ludlum's death, Eric Van Lustbader has written (to date) twelve more – starting with The Bourne Legacy in 2004, which was filmed in 2012. Lustbader's twelfth Bourne book, The Bourne Nemesis, is due for publication later this year.
